As published in the Auburn Journal:

Seven students from Bowman Charter School were chosen to attend the Capitol Section Honor Band (CSHB) at Sheldon High School in Elk Grove held Jan. 8 and 9. The students participated with many other music students from around the Sacramento area.

“I am extremely proud of our students,” Band Director Michelle Jamieson said. “Learning to play an instrument is hard work, and this experience motivates them to do their best. They also come back from honor band with a new understanding of what is possible, so it helps make our entire band better.”

The CSHB is made up of students from middle schools all around the Sacramento region. The eighth-graders were accepted based on their auditions, and the sixth-graders were chosen to participate by their directors.
