Emergency Information

Please read the definitions of the emergency procedures used during different emergency situations.

Be aware of what the emergency procedure means to staff and students, and what your role is as a parent during that time.

Your first instinct will be to go to the school site,

DO NOT GO TO THE SCHOOL, DO NOT CALL YOUR CHILD(ren),

DO NOT CALL THE SCHOOL SITE AT THIS TIME.

Doing so will complicate the resolution of the situation, threaten the safety of yourself, staff, and our students, and slow down the emergency procedures and/or reunification process already in progress.

The best course of action, as a parent, is to stay close to TV/Radio/Cellphone/Website to be informed

with updates and instructions to ensure the best outcome for all involved.

This page will be updated regularly with information, directions, or recommendations.

In the Event of an Actual Emergency

FOR SAFETY PURPOSES, DO NOT GO TO THE SCHOOL SITE, DO NOT CALL YOUR CHILD, AND DO NOT CALL THE SCHOOL SITE AT THIS TIME.

Parents/Guardians will be directed to the designated reunification area by school or public safety officials via TV/Radio/Text/Website/Telephone Call. Students will ONLY be released to a parent/guardian with a picture ID (driver's license, military ID, passport, etc), and who are documented on the student's emergency card. This process can be lengthy, as staff is focused on student safety, please be patient, and know we are working as quickly as possible to reunite you with your child.

Situations and Procedures

Evacuation

What Does This Situation Mean?

In the event of certain building emergencies, students leave the buildings or school site area and are relocated to an evacuation assembly area. Students will ONLY be released to parents/guardians with a picture ID. This procedure is necessary to account for the whereabouts of all students.

What Can Parents Do?

Do not go to the school site, or interfere with the evacuation of the students from their school site to their designated evacuation area. There will be a reunification area where parents can pick up their children.School staff can ONLY release a student to a parent/guardian with a picture ID, and you must sign the student out with designated staff. This is to ensure safety and accountability for all students in our care.

Lock-Out

What Does This Situation Mean?

Students take refuge in designated areas to protect them from hazardous materials, severe weather, or a potential low-level threat around campus. No entry into or exit from the school will be allowed until an "all-clear" announcement is made by school site administration or law enforcement. Instruction in classes typically continues in a Lock-Out scenario, but movement outside is not permitted, or severely limited, for safety purposes. The school may release students only if it is deemed safe - continue to check the school website for updated information regarding release clearance and instructions.

What Can Parents Do?

Stay away from the school site in this situation for your own safety, and the safety of others. Students will only be released during a Lock-Out situation if it is safe to do so as determined by school site administration or law enforcement.

Lockdown

What Does This Situation Mean?

A lockdown takes place if an internal or external threat is identified at the school. All school staff will ensure school doors are locked and students will be confined to their classrooms. No entry or exit will be allowed until an "all-clear" is called by site administration or law enforcement. Students WILL NOT be released in a lockdown. Typically, no instruction is taking place during this type of scenario, and staff and students are taking action to protect themselves.

What Can Parents Do?

Stay away from the school site in this situation for your own safety, and the safety of others. Your children WILL NOT be released during a lockdown situation until it is safe to do so as determined by school site administration or law enforcement.

Reunification

What Does This Situation Mean?

In the event of certain building emergencies, students leave the buildings or school site area and are relocated to an evacuation assembly area. Reunification is then planned by staff to safely reunite shilren with their parents/family members.

What are the Different Types of Reunification?

Daily Release - This is the process used on a daily basis at the school site(either during or after the school day). Nothing out of the ordinary would be expected during this type of release than the usual school day processes.

Controlled Release- A controlled release typically means students are reunited with families in a more systematic method for some degree of safety concern. This could be a release class by class, through the front office, or a release from school later than the usual dismissal time.

Reunification- A reunification occurs after an evacuation or more serious event. During this release students are sometimes transported or relocated to another location for safety. Parents will have a check-in area, and a check-out area to facilitate the release. A PHOTO ID WILL BE REQUIRED OF THE PARENT for student safey. A reunification may take up to 6 hours depending on the degree of the event, law enforcement needs, and the cooperation of families.

What Can Parents Do?

Do not go to the school site, or interfere with the evacuation of the students from their school site to their designated evacuation area. There will be a safe reunification area location announcement where parents can pick up their children.School staff can ONLY release a student to a parent/guardian with a picture ID, and you must sign the student out with designated staff. This is to ensure safety and accountability for all students in our care. Please watch the website or for all other messaging during this time with more detailed information on the reunification process.
